We test a huge range of components as part of our Waste acceptance criteria testing.

Within the UK the Landfill Directive (implemented through Council Directive 99/31/EC) aims to prevent, or to reduce as far as possible, the negative environmental effects of landfill.

Waste needs to be classified to strict guidelines and only waste of the correct category can be accepted at specific landfills.Certain waste cannot be land filled e.g. liquid, explosive etc.

WAC testing is predominately aimed at simulating the amount of hazardous substances that would leach from the waste through the passage of rainwater.

As standard we use the 10:1 BS EN 12457-2 leachate preparation methodology in accordance with current Environment Agency Guidelines. Other methods, including the superseded 2 stage BS EN 12457-3,  are available upon request.

Waste Services

The following components are tested as part of a WAC Testing (WAC BS EN 12457) test, for:

In addition to the eluate analysis the following tests are required on the solid waste itself:

  • Total organic carbon
  • Loss on ignition
  • BTEX
  • PCB’S (7 CONGENERS)
  • Mineral oil (>C10 TO C40)
  • PAH
  • pH

i2 Analytical provides a fast, cost effective testing solution for WAC testing at 5, 8 or 10 day turnarounds.
